David Rudd

Wolds Weighton

Over the past 34 years I have been proud to represent most of the Wolds Weighton Ward residents at District and Town Council level.

In 2002 I retired from my Profession as an Insurance Agent/Financial Advisor after 31 years and have devoted most of my time to trying to make a difference in the Ward, and improve people’s lives where possible.

For almost 54 years I have been a member of All Saints Church, Market Weighton serving as a Sidesman and now as a member of the Parochial Church Council and Church Trustee.

In the Ward I have supported the refurbishment of the Scout & Guide Headquarters, the Business Centre and small Industrial Estate, the TESCO store in Southgate, the Brookfield Private Business Park the New Health Centre, the Holme Road roundabout, and the East Riding Highway Depot in Market Weighton, and the cycle track from Market Weighton to Shiptonthorpe.

In Bishop Wilton and Sancton I have supported the new village halls, and I regularly attend several Parish Council Meetings in the Ward to support and encourage improvements, give advice, and take up some issues with the East Riding on their behalf.

Currently, as a Town Councillor in Market Weighton, I am supporting the refurbishment of the former Barclays Bank Building in the High Street for new Town Council premises, an Arts Centre, and future Youth facilities, as well as rooms to let off for local organizations to use.

I represent the East Riding and the Town Council on the Action Access A1079 Group to seek improvements to the A1079 from Hull to York. I support the improvements to the Shiptonthorpe roundabout for road users and the pedestrian crossing for the local people.

As current Chairman of the Western Area Planning Sub Committee I support the increased house building, where appropriate, which can only help employment, local services and businesses in the Ward. Commuted Sums from house builders and Windfarm grants from Sancton have helped many local community projects in South Cliffe, Sancton and Market Weighton over the last several years.

I am committed to local services and my career in the Private Service Industry gave me the background to support constituents with any issues with the East Riding. I firmly believe that working in partnership with local councils, local people and the East Riding brings positive results.
