Jacob Birch

Mid Holderness

I have lived all my life in the village of Wawne. I was educated at the local village primary school and later attended Beverley Grammar School where I Studied Engineering and latterly Beverley Joint Sixth Form were, I studied Politics, Geography and General Studies.

I am currently a sitting Parish Councillor and Editor of the Village Gazette. I have led the Parish Council into a more modern way of communicating using the Gazette and Social Media. Recently I have been responsible for producing the Parish Councils budget and working with residents to see improvements being made around the village including bins, paths and the Play Park.

I have a real passion for volunteering, which I have been able to fulfil in my role as a Humberside Police Community Safety Volunteer. This role I was able to engage with all different types of communities across the Humberside Force area and I have learnt a lot about the work the police force do. This has encouraged me to help fight ageist crime and work the Holderness policing teams and collages against rural crime in particular.

I am also currently a Cub Scout Leader for the Cherry Burton Cub Pack-m which allows me to help the young people engage and learn new skills for life as well as making a real impact and difference to the local community and beyond. I have a real drive to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and want to improve the voice and influence of young people across the East Riding of Yorkshire.

In my day job I am a Customer Support Executive for a small Chocolate and Confectionary Wholesaler based in the village of Tickton. My hobbies include walking and photography.

If any residents would like to contact me for help and advice or raise any issues please feel free to contact me. I am completely approachable and will treat all cases equally and with the upmost confidentiality.
