Minster and Woodmansey

Hi,
I’m a proud  Beverley girl born and raised, living in the lovely village of Woodmansey. I was educated at Woodmansey Church of England Primary School and then on to Beverley High School. I am married to Roy and we have 3 daughters.
I have been a member of Woodmansey Parish Council since 2002 and love being a part of village life.

I have been a councillor for East Riding of Yorkshire Council Minster and Woodmansey ward  since 2007 and have really enjoyed representing many residents from  around the ward. I am currently lucky enough to chair the Children and Young People overview and scrutiny sub committee. We have had some great outcomes and feel we have had a positive impact on many issues facing our younger generation over recent years. Recommendations from us have resulted in over £3.5 million being invested in our schools, in addition to the government funding.

I also chair the Corporate Parenting Group that closely monitors the outcomes and policies we have for our children looked after in the East Riding.

I am proud to serve on the governing boards of Woodmansey Church of England Primary School, Keldmarsh Primary School, Longcroft School and Sixth Form College and East Riding College. This has given me a real insight into the challenges facing our children and the education sector as a whole. But having the opportunity of seeing the children rise to the challenges is inspiring.  I aspire to see all of our schools and colleges provide outstanding opportunities for our children.

I have always endeavoured to make sure the voice of the residents of Minster and Woodmansey ward is heard in County Hall. I pride myself on being accessible and always do my utmost  to do the best for our lovely area and the people who live here, whatever their age.

We are facing challenging times and it is more important than ever before to have the stability of a financially sound local authority with a fully inclusive ethos. It has been a great privilege to serve as a councillor for the past 12 years and should I be lucky enough to be re elected on 2nd May, I would continue to put my heart and soul into striving for the best for all of our residents, and working my little socks off.
