Kevin Beaumont

Beverley Rural

Born in Bradford to a University lecturer father and a Baptist Minister Mother in 1955 I was eEducated at Salt Grammar school.

Both my family background and the philanthropic nature of the founder of the school, Sir Titus Salt, made an impression on me resulting in my being involved in the community from a very young age.

Attending Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts then running them was a big part of my childhood and late teens and early twenties.

Whilst in West Yorkshire I was involved in running tennis and squash teams for Heaton Club and also was a Governor of a specialist Deaf and Blind school for children called Thorn Park Residential school.

I moved over to East Yorkshire in the mid 90s living initially in Kirkella before moving to Driffield in 2008.

I have been involved in Sales and Marketing all my life and for the last 18 years was working as a Sales Director for a company making and distributing durable medical aids which were primarily for the elderly and infirm.

Selling these to the NHS and local authorities as well as to other commercial bodies has given me an in depth knowledge of the social care market and the pressures of dealing with a ever growing population of the elderly which contrasts with a lack of funds.

Retiring last year I have taken on responsibility as Chair of Governors for Lockington School which I thoroughly enjoy and I take great pride in the efforts of all the parents, staff and indeed the children to ensure the school is successful; achieving Good marks from Ofsted and Outstanding from the York Diocese.

Over the last few months having been selected to fight the Beverley Rural ward for the Conservative partly I have been involved with other Conservative candidates for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council with the local Parish councils who really are a life blood of the local rural life of the East Riding and am in the process of attending these meetings to strengthen the bond between the local Parish and Unitary Councils.

Working together is the only way to maximise the benefits for the communities as a whole.

I am also involved as an EYRC appointed trustee of the Beverley and North Holderness Internal Drainage Board working with both council and landowners or tenants, and attending the meetings on a regular basis.

If I was elected in May this year I feel that my knowledge of the Social Care market and a strong commercial background would stand me in good stead and benefit the council as a whole

However, I will never forget that my first obligation is to the residents of the Beverley Rural ward.
