Wolds Weighton

I was born in York and have been raised in East Yorkshire since the age of two, it is with a great sense of pride that I call our beautiful area my home. I have been raised in the small rural village of Yapham in Wolds Weighton, and therefore understand what it is like to come from a small community whose voice is not always heard. As someone who has known since a very young age that they are a conservative, I have a great belief in the traditional conservative principle of the importance of local government. Therefore, if elected to The East Riding of Yorkshire Council in May, I shall carry out my duties as a ward councillor to the best of my ability by listening to the voices of all communities in my ward, no matter the size.

It was with this conservative principle in mind, along with my love and sense of duty to our country and local area that when I turned eighteen in 2016 I decided it was time that I gave something back to the area, community and people who had helped me through my childhood. I joined Yapham cum Meltonby Parish Council, becoming their youngest member. I have always taken an active role during my time of service on the council, taking the leading role in two major projects. The first has been to replace the bench in Yapham; after many months of work I am glad to say that it is finished. I worked alongside local business and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (who kindly granted £500 towards the project) to produce the bench which is a memorial to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars, something which coming from a military family is a cause that is close to my heart. My other major campaign was to encourage more parishioners to join the council, which has been a great success, as now for the first time in a many years Yapham cum Meltonby has a full parish council. Whether elected to County Hall or not in May I have pledged that I will continue to serve on Yapham Cum Meltonby Parish Council.

After completing my lower education at Bishop Wilton C.E. Primary School and Woldgate School and Sixth Form College, I am currently studying a joint degree in my two favourite subjects, History and Politics, at the University of Hull. I am confident that the skills I have learnt throughout my academic career will be of great help to me if elected to County Hall in May. The main reason why I would like to be elected to The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to continue to serve my home to the best of my ability, being elected to County Hall, not only enhances my ability to do that, but also allows me to serve on a greater scale.
